A Japanese Komai-style maki-e damascene iron hexagonal box and hinged coverMeiji periodThe black iron overlaid in gold with a central roundel of a temple to the hinged cover, on a dense ground of vine leaves, the sides with further vine leaves, the interior with incised mandarin ducks, the base with incised birds on prunus and a 'fuku' (福) mark within a fan-shaped medallion, 4.5cm wide.Condition Report: Hinge is a bit hard. Light surface wear, including some surface scratching to base and interior, some light discolouration to interior.. Two characters deeply scratched to the interior of the cover. Weight: 70g.
