H. 25 cm, L. 34 cm, B. 17 cm. - Provenance: In private ownership for over 40 years. - Godchaux counts among the great animal sculptors of the 1st half of the 20th century, the so-called 'Animaliers'. After his studies at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, he specialized in animal sculptures under the influence of the animal bronzes of Antoine-Louis Barye. From 1905 he exhibited regularly in the Salon of French artists. In 1925 he won the silver medal at the "Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes". Godchaux became famous especially for his bronze elephant sculptures. H. 25 cm, L. 34 cm, B. 17 cm. - Provenienz: seit über 40 Jahren in norddeutschem Privatbesitz. - Godchaux zählt zu den großen Tierbildhauern der 1. Hälfte des 20. Jh., den sog. 'Animaliers'. Schon früh spezialisierte er sich nach seinem Studium an der École des Beaux Arts in Paris unter dem Eindruck der Tierbronzen von Antoine-Louis Barye auf die Tierplastik. Ab 1905 stellte er regelmässig im Salon der französischen Künstler aus. 1925 gewann er die Silbermedaille auf der "Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes" die Silbermedaille.
